Twitter
User Analyser
This is a project for my bachelor thesis in B.Sc. Applied Cognition and Media Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen. In this thesis I created a user interface for the tool Twitter User Analyser, which evaluates the credibility of Twitter users. For this purpose, a concept is developed that is based on important usability rules. The outcome of the usability test demonstrates that the user interface is very user-friendly, but there is still room for improvement.

Concept
In recent years, the rapid development of the Internet and mobile technology has had a significant impact on the growth of social networks. There are an increasing number of platforms, as well as a large number of users and accounts on those platforms, who create millions of posts every second. Furthermore, there are many fake or bot accounts, making it extremely difficult for users to assess the credibility of a single account or piece of content they encounter on social media. Twitter User Analyser is a web-based tool that allows users to check relevant informations about other Twitter accounts. As a result, they can make own desicion whether or not they trust the content created by these users.

Target group
Twitter User Analyser is a web tool that provides a summary of Twitter users.
Even if almost everyone can use the TUA, not everyone falls into the target demographic. The target audience is comprised of knowledgeable intermittent users. In contrast to first-time users (who are unfamiliar with Twitter or have not yet used any analysis tools) or expert frequent users (who have very deep and broad knowledge), the target group has a basic understanding of the topic. They are already familiar with Twitter and understand how it works. Assumptions were made here for three addressees in order to define the best design for the tool: private users, journalists, and businesses

Assessment of the credibility
Based on careful research, there are some relevant data for assessing the credibility of one Twitter user.

An sitemap assists me in visualizing the relationship between the content and examining the hierarchy.

Task flow
The decision trees were added to help me consider what actions users might have to take to finish their tasks.

The Design
According to Jakob's Law, "Users spend the majority of their time on other websites and want your website to work just like any other website they already know," the design of Twitter User Analyzer is based on the look of Twitter, so people can instantly address the functions and know which information they need for the decision. Six labels with simple icons were created to present the content of the analyzed account's Tweets. Each label has a single color that corresponds to the color in the timeline where the specific Tweets are displayed.

Usability test
A remote usability test was conducted with 26 participants to answer two questions: how users use the website and how satisfied they are with the interface of the website. Test object was a high fidelity Prototype with Click-Dummy. There were two parts of the study: interactive part with observation and a short survey with Questionaire for User Interface Satisfaction (QUIS) (Chin et al. 1988). The outcome indicates that satisfaction was rated as very good. Howerver, there is still room for improvement for the next version.
